Terms of use

Version 1 · Roamsters · info@roamsters.nl

1. What Roamsters is

Roamsters is a travel journal with a community: you record trips with stops, photos, videos and a route, and share them with whoever you choose. These terms apply to the website and the app.

Fair use. Roamsters is a travel journal, not a storage or backup service. Photos, videos, voice memos and documents belong to your trips and conversations. That's why each plan has a storage limit and a daily upload limit (see pricing). If someone clearly uses Roamsters to store other files, we first ask them to change that; if that doesn't help, we may limit their uploads.

2. Your account

You need an account to create trips and must be at least 16. Keep your password secret and preferably turn on two-step verification. You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings, where you can also export your data for free.

3. Your content

What you post remains yours. You only allow Roamsters to store it, process it (resize, convert, check) and show it to the people you choose through its visibility (private, followers, public, share link). That permission ends when you delete it, except where the law requires us to keep something longer (for example a legal order, see section 7).

Only post content you have the rights to, and for which recognisable people in it gave their consent.

4. What is not allowed

No nudity or sexual content, violence, hate or discrimination, bullying or harassment, spam or scams, content that violates someone's privacy, and nothing illegal. This also applies to messages and groups. New photos and videos (also in messages) are checked automatically (on our own server) before others can see them.

Child sexual abuse: zero tolerance. We hide such material immediately after a report. If a moderator confirms it, we suspend the account, preserve the data as evidence and report it to Offlimits (the hotline) and, where needed, the police.

5. Reporting, moderation and appeals (DSA)

Anyone with an account can report content via ⚑. Moderators review reports. If we hide or remove something or suspend an account, you receive a message with the reason, whether it was automated, and how to appeal. You can appeal on the trip page, or turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or the courts. Figures are in our transparency report. Point of contact for authorities and users: info@roamsters.nl.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Free stays free. Plus and Crew are paid in advance, monthly or yearly; prices include VAT. There is no automatic renewal: you get a reminder a week before the end, after which you go back to Free and your trips and photos remain (only new uploads above the free limits stop).

Because your subscription starts immediately after payment, we ask you at checkout to explicitly agree to that immediate start and to acknowledge that you thereby lose your 14-day right of withdrawal. If something went wrong (for example a double payment), contact us: we will refund and adjust the period.

Crew: the owner shares their subscription with up to five others; they have Crew as long as the owner pays and can leave at any time.

Printed travel book. With Plus you can have your trip printed as a book. We make the book from what is in your trip (approved photos only) and have it printed and delivered by our print partner, to whom we pass your name, delivery address and email address for that purpose. Because the book is made specially for you, there is no right of withdrawal. If the book arrives damaged or misprinted, contact us within 14 days of receipt: we will reprint it or refund you.

7. Requests from authorities

We only provide data on a valid legal order, after our own review, and no more than requested. Where allowed (no confidentiality imposed), we let you know there was a request about your account. During a legal preservation obligation, the final deletion of data may be postponed.

8. Availability and liability

We do our best to keep Roamsters safe and available and make backups, but cannot guarantee the service is never interrupted. Please also export what matters to you. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months, except in case of intent or gross negligence.

9. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in the privacy statement. You can shield locations around your home with privacy zones.

10. Changes, law and contact

If these terms change materially, we will let you know in advance. Dutch law applies; as a consumer you keep the protection of the law of your own country. Questions or complaints: info@roamsters.nl.
